Trittico Vaclav Nelhybel Trittico was composed for William Revelli, conductor of the University of Michigan band. Trittico is defined as a triptych or painting on three panels, such as is common on altars.

The first two movements are related to one another in that their character is brilliantly forward-moving and energetic, and the main theme of the one movement reappears in the culmination point of the other. Vaclav Nelhybel (1919-1996) was born in Czechoslovakia. He studied at Prague University and the University of Fribourg and emigrated to the United States in 1957. Over 400 of his works, including operas and works for orchestra, band, chorus and smaller ensembles, have been published.
