Better Morrowind Armor by Moranar. New armour meshes designed to fit Better Bodies. Includes a patch for by Saint Jiub's HiRez Armors - Native Styles and a tweaked version of the official mod LeFemm Armor. The English version of this mod has a bug whereby all left gauntlets are duplicated in the world, and fixing it is.

Welcome traveller! Here for your reading pleasure I present my profoundly biased and subjective list of Morrowind mod recommendations. These are all mods that I use personally in my current MGSO 3.0 Morrowind build. Generally, I tend to go for bug fixes, gameplay improvements, graphic and sound improvements over mods that add entirely new content into the game like new buildings, NPCs, quests and the like. For that reason, you won't see some extremely popular expansions listed, like [www.tamriel-rebuilt.org], or even [mw.modhistory.com]. That's not to say those aren't great mods, only that I'm not into them.

If you've never messed with Morrowind mods before, it's a good idea to take a couple of primers. The [forums.bethsoft.com] on the official TES forums is a great resource for Morrowind modding info. I recommend reading through the [forums.bethsoft.com] and [forums.bethsoft.com] sections, with bonus points awarded for [forums.bethsoft.com].

While you're there, it's worth signing up to the forum as it's a great place to come for help if you have questions or problems. For those looking for more in-depth and technical information, Ronin49's [www.mwmythicmods.com] offers a great deal of clearly explained info. Just bear in mind that the page hasn't been updated in a few years, so it's likely to contain more than a few broken links. From this point, the guide presumes you know and understand the basics of mod installation and focusses on listing the mods and their in-game effects. The Morrowind Graphics & Sound Overhaul v3.0 deserves a section of its own. MGSO is a giant collection of hundreds of Morrowind mods, all assembled and tested by a large team and packaged along with an easy-to-use wizard-style installer that automates much of the process for you, leaving you free to sit back and make the fun choices, such as what type of trees look best in each of Morrowind's regions or whether or not you want to see nudie bits on your improved NPC bodies. When applied to a vanilla Morrowind install, the transformation in game visuals is astounding.

Largely due to engine limitations however, max settings can really hurt performance, so be prepared to sacrifice a few high-cost options if you want to keep the framerate ticking over nicely. Or throw some money at better hardware.

This mod pack is highly recommended and a great starting point. [www.ornitocopter.net] [www.ornitocopter.net] Pro Tip: After installing the vanilla game from Steam, make a backup copy of the Morrowind folder before applying the Overhaul. This makes do-overs easier and you're free to experiment with the myriad MGSO options knowing you have a fallback position.

Any 'supermod' as large as the MGSO is bound to have a few problems. Here are the fixes. Apply them after you're happy with your MGSO installation. [download.fliggerty.com] This patch fixes a few bugs in the MGSO v3.0 that were noted by users after its release. Despite the 'temporary' status of the patch, it is still valid and required today. [download.fliggerty.com] Fixes an oversight in MGSO where daedric armour uses vanilla textures instead of the updated textures in the package. Optional, but the newer textures look much better than vanilla.

[abitoftaste.altervista.org] This patch fixes a number of script errors and corrects some non-English item names in Raven Rock that were introduced by the Windows Glow mod included with MGSO. Pro Tip: Once you're completely happy with your basic MGSO installation and have applied these fixes, make a backup copy your Morrowind game folder so you can revert to a 'known good' base MGSO install if you need to.

Mods that improve the look of the game environment. These are often higher quality mesh (3D models) and/or texture replacements for the vanilla game assets. [www.nexusmods.com] Provides smoother meshes and new textures for all alchemical equipment and ingredients. Also provides a number of alchemy enhancements which I don't care to use. [www.nexusmods.com] Replaces the dull, blurry vanilla fire and smoke textures with crisp, toasty high-resolution versions and also alters fire meshes to actually improve performance over vanilla. Everybody wins.

[www.nexusmods.com] Smoother, optimised mesh replacements for alchemy equipment, potion bottles, skooma pipes and a few household items like bowls and cups. Note that this mod and Alchemy Essentials both replace the alchemy equipment meshes, so install the mod you like best, last. [www.nexusmods.com] Updates a few vanilla meshes such as stools, planters, cauldrons, cushions, and even marshmerrow plants with smoother and better performing meshes. [www.nexusmods.com] A high-resolution grass replacement texture for the Bitter Coast region that blends well and looks great. [downloads.fliggerty.com] Vivec City can be tough to get around, and the author of this mod decided to do something about it by adding a bridge between the top tiers of the Foreign Quarter and Redoran cantons. I found this mod very useful for a time, until I truly embraced my character's powers of levitation. [www.nexusmods.com] The famous shrine to Azura gets a complete makeover with this mod.

The overall feel of the cavern is now far more fey and magical, with a motherly, almost womb-like quality. The meshes have been bump-mapped and flowers, grass and fireflies are added, and the lighting has been changed. Some changes to the occupants have also been made that might be viewed as fixes; they now wear and carry racially-correct clothing and weapons. A plugin-less replacer is also available.

[www.nexusmods.com] The mod replaces the rather ordinary comberry bush with a new mesh and a choice of tropical style or more vanilla-style foliage. The berries are now 3D and a 'picked' mesh is provided for use with the Graphic Herbalism mod which most MGSO users will have installed. [www.nexusmods.com] Changes the design of the Ghostfence pylons to match the majestic concept art, complete with towering inward-facing claws that glow menacingly with daedric runes. Highly recommended! [www.nexusmods.com] Replaces the Daedric ruins texture set with great looking reworked versions with three times the original resolution. [download.fliggerty.com] Replaces all of the Dunmer lanterns in the game with smoother, more detailed versions. The MGSO includes an earlier version of this mod that incorrectly adds the collision property to all lanterns; this version corrects that error and could thus be considered a minor bugfix for MGSO.

[www.nexusmods.com] The vanilla Dwemer meshes are terrible - octagonal pipes abound! The mod replaces many of the Dwemer ruins models with scratch-made, smoothed replacements that really boost the Dwemer areas. [www.nexusmods.com] Epic Balmora roughly doubles the size of Balmora, completely transforming the feel of the town in the process and all while remaining true to the original lore. It does this by adding addiional vanilla assets around the town to give the feel of a much larger city. Be sure to regenerate Distant Land after installation.

[www.nexusmods.com] At the end of one of the best dungeon crawls in the game lies the Forge of Hilbongard, with your prize inside a rather plain looking wooden chest. This mod solves the immersion problem by replacing the wooden chest with a suitably daedric metal one, and suspending it above the forge with some serious looking chains. [www.nexusmods.com] This is a comprehensive re-skin of all Imperial Fort exteriors and interiors, delivering a remarkable improvement on the drab, green-shaded textures provided with MGSO. Also includes an optional script to add more archer nooks to the walls to raise the detail level a further notch. Highly recommended!

[www.nexusmods.com] A more detailed texture for the Ghostfence forcefield that attempts to follow the original concept art. Looks great up close, but it can suffer from a distance. You can choose to live with that if you like, or do what I do and revert to the vanilla forcefield textures prior to regenerating distant land in MGE and then switching back to the mod forcefield textures afterwards.

That way you get the vanilla textures at a distance and the cool new ones up close. [www.nexusmods.com] A plugin-less replacer for the meshes and textures of hackle-lo plants found in the grazelands. The mod fixes a raft of problems with the vanilla models. A 'picked' mesh is also included for use with the Graphic Herbalism mod which is included in the MGSO package. Part 2 of the Environment section to satisfy Steam's silly section character limit. *fistshake* [www.nexusmods.com] A set of modular enhancements that make the rising influence of the Sixth House far more prevalent as the main quest proceeds.

Increasing numbers of blighted creatures begin to appear, Dunmer faithful gather at temples and troops amass by the Ghostgate. All the while, Imperial and guild headquarters are harrassed and defaced with graffiti and makeshift Sixth House shrines begin to appear, some complete with ranting preachers. An excellent immersion mod. [mw.modhistory.com] This is a rather cool litle mod that adds random shooting stars to the night skies. The meteors appear occasionally and at random, a delightful event if you manage to spy one on a night trek. Very occasionally, a meteor shower can even occur.

[download.fliggerty.com] This is an update to the version that's included in the MGSO package. Animations have been added for crates, sacks and barrels, and all containers now remain open until you close them again, making it easier to keep track of the ones you've already checked. [www.nexusmods.com] There are quite a few coin and gold mesh/texture replacements around, undoubtedly because the vanilla models and textures look like♥♥♥♥♥ Unfortunately many of the replacements on offer overcompensate for the problem and end up being way too bright and gaudy. After trying several, I settled on this mod which provides good looking, well textured, lore-accurate coins that still blend nicely with the ambient clutter. [www.nexusmods.com] This is as close as I come to a landmass mod. An ambitious premise, the mod sets out to turn Red Mountain into an actual mountain!!

It does this by elongating the models of a number of rocks that are fundamental to the mountain's architecture. The end result is surprisingly effective, and the mountain now towers over the surrounding landscape, a constant forboding reminder that foul things are afoot on Vvardenfell. [mw.modhistory.com] Fixes a problem in the Vivec Puzzle Canal that is introduced by the Mountainous Red Mountain mod which makes part of the Puzzle Canal impassable. Install this after MRM to solve the problem. [mw.modhistory.com] This is a simple texture replacer that updates the three ore rocks; glass, diamond and ebony with larger and more atrractive textures for both the rock and the ore itself. [www.nexusmods.com] This mod really lifts Redoran towns like Ald'ruhn by replacing many of the exterior and interior meshes with bump-mapped, re-textured versions. The end result is a grittier, more realistic Redoran settlement.

[www.nexusmods.com] The SWG Skies 3 mod, included with MGSO, gets a comprehensive update in the form of Skies IV, which surpasses any skies or weather mod I've yet seen for Morrowind. New, zero-repeat meshes and textures are provided for skies, moons, rain and ash storms. The mod even includes versions of other popular sky textures, remade for compatibility with the new meshes.

There are three moon styles and five sky texture sets to choose from. Highly recommended! [www.nexusmods.com] Fixes some very ugly texture alignment issues on the vanilla Telvanni fireplace model, and also adds colisions and a smoother mesh. Visit the Tel Branora armorer to see an example.

[www.nexusmods.com] From the author who brought us Dwemer Mesh Improvement comes another architectural masterpiece. This smoothes and optimises many of the Telvanni meshes, giving places like Sadrith Mora and Tel Aruhn an impressive facelift. [www.nexusmods.com] This plugin-less mod replaces all trama root meshes and textures with new, bump-mapped versions for a more natural and realistic look. A compatibility patch for Graphic Herbalism is included, and you should also install unless for some crazy reason you're not running the excellent GH mod. [www.nexusmods.com] A fantastic texture replacement for all Velothi exteriors around the game, including Vivec, Dunmer temples and ancestral tombs.

Switches the maroon-themed MGSO offerings out for a forest green motif, along with a finer, cleaner look that evokes a sense of Dunmer pride. Highly recommended!

[www.nexusmods.com] This excellent mod updates waterfall mesh and textures to the point that they actually look quite convincingly similar to water! Who'd have thunk it.

There are two mesh/texture variations in the pack to choose from and also an optional, more vigorous replacement for the splash effect. I chose to go with the non-alternate waterfall version and stuck with the vanilla splashes.

Mods that improve the meshes, textures and animations of the game's playable races and creatures and their wearable / totable items like clothing, jewelry and weapons. [www.nexusmods.com] A great new mesh and texture set for everybody's favourite walking mouth, the Alit. [mw.modhistory.com] A new body for Almalexia, and you can optionally loot her armour after turning her into a tattered, bloody corpse. [www.nexusmods.com] This is an improved version of the Better Bodies pack that is provided with the MGSO. There are a number of under-the-hood corrections and fixes, but the most noticable and welcome improvement is to the hand meshes, which now actually look like hands. Incredible, but true. [www.nexusmods.com] The robes in this pack are exceptional. With improved meshes and very high quality textures, this mod really lifts the bar in this crowded corner of Morrowind modding. I had trouble getting the included Unique Finery Replacer patch to work, so in the end I went with the 'no robes' version of UFR to avoid the conflict. [www.nexusmods.com] A new mesh and texture set for our friend, the Cliff Racer.

Williams Textbook Of Obstetrics Pdf Free Download. These guys now look especially great, with detailed faces and semi-transparent wings. They're still just as annoying, but somehow prettier to watch.

[www.nexusmods.com] This mod improves the walk and run animations for Argonians and Khajiit. They still walk kinda weird, but it's still a huge improvement on the vanilla animations.

[www.nexusmods.com] This is a plugin-less texture and mesh replacer for the god at the heart of the problem, Dagoth Ur. The end result is a far more menacing and intimidating adversary than the almost laughable vanilla offering.

[www.nexusmods.com] Another excellent creature texture replacer, possibly the best of the bunch. Guars really look great with this installed. [www.nexusmods.com] A set of 22 improved meshes for steel weapons throughout the game. All steel weapons are covered except crossbows and oriental blades, since the author feels there are already decent meshes available.

Links to these mods are provided in the readme file, along with some texture recommendations. Note that one of these, Psymoniser's Oriental Mesh Improvements is inclued with the MGSO package.

[www.nexusmods.com] Kagoutis get a mesh-and-texure overhaul with this mod. They look great as they tear your newb character to shreds with those realistic looking tusks.

[download.fliggerty.com] This mod replaces the completely ordinary Mudcrab Merchant with all new textures and a new mesh that has him smoking a pipe! There's also a new arch on his island. Put together this mod makes the venerable merchant both easier to find and easer to recognise, making it less likely you'll slaughter him instantly like every other filthy s'wit mudcrab on the Vvardenfell.

There's also an option to reduce his daily gold allowance, if that's your thing. [www.nexusmods.com] Choices for Argonian facial features are pretty limited in the vanilla game. This mod adds almost 30 new Argonian 'hair' (horns, spikes, fins and feathers) choices into the game, and also provides an optional plugin to update the heads of Argonian NPCs. Part 2 of the Races and Creatures section, because I don't want lots of little specialty sections, but Steam won't let me have one big one! [www.nexusmods.com] Replacement Khajiit head meshes and textures that really improve the facial features of our fabulous furry feline friends. Eyes are especially improved with this mod, bringing Khajiit appearance up to a level that looks quite acceptable next to the humanoid heads & faces updates listed elsewhere in the guide.

[www.nexusmods.com] This is a mesh and texture replacer for all of Morrowind's iron weapons. Two bonuses are included, an improved spiked club and a new steel mace, as well as compatible meshes for Psymonser's Iron Mesh Improvements: Unique, which is part of the MGSO package. [mw.modhistory.com] This is an older mod that delivers improved Argonian body textures that more closely match with the popular Better Heads mod included in MGSO.

No longer must our lizardly friends hide their blurry scales in shame. [www.nexusmods.com] This mod correct what some see as a bug or an oversight in the game, and adds unique mage-style armour sets for Telvanni guards. Two sets are provided, one for regular street guards and another 'majestic' set for house champions. You can find this elite armour set as part of the main quest. Pro Tip: This mod comes packaged in a BSA file.

You'll need to add a line into your Morrowind.ini file in order to activate it. Make sure you create a backup of the file before editing!

[www.nexusmods.com] According to lore, Umbra is a battle-hardened Orc of fearful stature and prowess. In reality, the character you meet is rather ordinary and easily bested in battle. This mod changes both of those things. Now, when you encounter Umbra, he is decked out in full Orcish armour, including some unused and newly created pieces. On his back and at his sides is a wide array of unique 'Umbral' weapons. Umbra's combat stats have been enhanced, too, and true to lore he's now one of the most powerful NPCs in the game.

The battle he mounts against you is fearsome. Don't even think about turning up at level 20, expecting to walk away with all those unique weapons! [www.nexusmods.com] Replaces the meshes, textures and icons of most special / unique amulets, belts, rings, robes and shoes.

I went with the 'no robes' option, because I'm happy to stick with the Better Robes offerings. [mw.modhistory.com] This is a mesh and texture replacer that improves the appearance of everyone's favourite two-toned floating warrior-poet deity, Vivec. Various replacer options are provided; Normal, Concept (by Westly) and Older, as well as an option of a flaming blue particle effect behind the head. I went with the concept option, without the flaming halo.

The mod is also available as an [mw.modhistory.com], with a variety of script options, lootable armour and the like. [download.fliggerty.com] This is a comprehensive replacement for the heads, hair and faces of all NPCs in the game excluding the Argonian and Khajiit 'beast races'. The author has painstakingly worked to retain the features and appearance of each NPC, while at the same time delivering a more lifelike and lore-friendly rendition for each individual.

Mods that update or improve the game's user interface and controls. [mw.modhistory.com] In the vanilla game, there's no way to de-nock a drawn bow except to shoot (and waste) the arrow. With this mod, you can hit space to de-nock and return the arrow to inventory.

[download.fliggerty.com] In the later game once your acrobatics begins to soar, you can jump extraordinarily high, even for a spring-legged Argonian. This is great for getting across wide gaps, but it's not much on the finesse front.

That's where this mod comes in - by holding down a modifer key, typically G, your acrobatics are temporarly reduced to a third of their full value, allowing you to perfrom nice little dainty hops instead of enormous bounds. Very useful when the situation calls for it. [www.nexusmods.com] Let's face it, the default desktop icon for Morrowind looks like crap.

Here is a gorgeous moon-and-star themed replacement icon to grace your desktop. I recommend saving it right inside your Morrowind folder. [www.nexusmods.com] This mod streamlines of the harvesting of plants, kollops, egg sacks. In the vanilla game, plants are opened like containers and you need to move the contents to your inventory, like a chest. With this mod, simply activate the plant and it is harvested automatically. A sound is heard to signify the transfer, and the plant mesh will alter or disappear to show that it has been picked. This is an updated version of the mod provided in the MGSO package.

[www.nexusmods.com]This is an add-on for Graphic Herbalism that extends the experience to ore mining and adds a raft of immersive elements, such as the need to own a pick for mining minerals, or having to equip a blade when diving for kollops. Likewise a muck shovel is highly recommended for harvesing mucksponge and there's a good chance of taking damage while harvesting spiky plants unless you suit up appropriately first! [download.fliggerty.com] This mod does away with the hassle of equipping lockpicks, probes, torches and lanterns. Typically, you need to go to inventory to equip any of these, but with this mod you can now toggle between your shield and a torch or lantern by pressing ',', and toggle between your weapon and a lockpick or probe by pressing '.' The keys are configurable too! [www.nexusmods.com] A set of 28 beautifully made 16:9 splash screen replacements depicting Morrowind concept art.

The imagery is so compelling that you hardly notice the Russian text, and even so, an English translation is on the way. The mod also includes an excellent widescreen main menu background, but I chose to stick with my favourite from the Widescreen Main Menu mod. [www.nexusmods.com] This is a very well made HD recreation of the intro cinematic. Of dubious usefulness certainly, but you can't deny it looks great! There are also versions available in Polish, Russian and French.

[www.nexusmods.com] When sneaking in first person, the camera is moved only marginally lower to the ground, and it's hard to know that you're actually sneakng at times. This mod moves the sneak camera closer to the ground (about hip pocket level) for a more realistic experience. [webpages.charter.net] Adds a detailed and lore-faithful map to your inventory, showing all of the available travel routes. The map can be obtained as part of a quest to assist the cartographer, or have it simply added to your inventory for immediate use. Map this one to a Quick Key for convenient navigation!

[www.nexusmods.com] This updates the in-game UI, and does a much better job than garish offerings in the MGSO package. The UI is dark, simple and unobtrusive, while still retaining the spirit of the original user interface. [www.nexusmods.com] Once of the most frustrating things about getting around in Morrowind's interiors are the stubborn NPCs that insist on standing directly in your path and refusing to move.

This mod solves the problem by allowing you press Alt while facing the NPC to have them wander a short distance away. It feels quite natural, like you walked up and politely tapped them on the shoulder. [www.nexusmods.com] This tiny mod replaces the enormous default crosshair with a much less obtrusive one. When combined with MGE's Crosshair autohide feature, it's just perfect and beats out my previous choice, Peterbitt's Smaller Crosshair. [www.nexusmods.com] Replaces the main menu background with a beautifully made 16:9 HD replacement. These mods improve or fix various gameplay aspects.

[www.nexusmods.com] I found one of the most annoying and unrealistic things about Morrowind is how everything wants to kill you dead - even lowly rats and dopey guars. And don't get me started on Cliff Racers. This mod makes animal behaviour much more realistic and makes wandering about the Vvardenfell so much more pleasurable.

A must-have mod, in my opinion. [www.nexusmods.com] Bethesda made some odd choices when choosing the governing attributes for some skills; Security affecting Magicka, for example. This mod seeks to redistribute the governing attributes for various skills, and produces a better balanced game in the process. [download.fliggerty.com] Telekinesis sounds cool, but the vanilla implementation just extends your reach further than normal. Object disappear instantly the moment you activate them with Telekinesis, winding up in your inventory.

This mod improves the experience quite a bit - now the objects hover across the room toward you like you always thought they should. [download.fliggerty.com] The various daedra hanging out in daedric shrines all look scary, but they turn out to be fairly average opponents. This mod tweaks the stats of all daedra to make them opponents worthy of your time and effort. Note: Load before Neo's Unique Creatures, part of the MGSO package. [download.fliggerty.com] Normally, when there's a fight breaking out, any innocent bystanders will just wander about like nothing special is happening, sometimes even wandering into the fight itself and saying hi! This mod causes bystanders to attempt the flee the scene when a fight breaks out, and they also react if you start waving your weapon around carelessly. +1 for immersion!

[www.nexusmods.com] If your character level is too high at a certain part in the main quest, the game more or less directs you to skip a large part of the story. This mod prevents that shortcut from happening and allows you to complete all of the intervening quests and trials.

[www.nexusmods.com] The Divine Intervention / ALMSIVI Intervention fast travel system in the base game is somewhat flawed. Several temples inexplicably don't have shrines and cannot be reached via Intervention, and and when travelling to Gnisis, you wind up at the fort rather than the temple. This mod adds the missing shrines and temple markers to the game, and shifts the Gnisis endpoint to the temple, resulting in a much more versatile Templar teleportation system. [mw.modhistory.com] This is a fun immersion mod for magic users, it adds a 20% chance of a random backfire occurring when you fail to cast a spell. Naturally, the higher your magic skill, the less likely you are to miscast at all.

The random effects are dependent on the type of magic in use. The mod also includes a short quest to recover a staff capable of warding off miscast effects. [www.nexusmods.com] With this mod, your health will slowly regenerate. It's no good in a fight, but adds a touch of realism in the wider world and you can avoid having to carry quite so many Restore Health potions about the place. [www.nexusmods.com] This mod makes all ranged weapons faster and more realistic, and it significantly increases the previously pitiful chances of recovering your arrows and bolts from the bloody perforated corpses of your vanquished foes. Ranged magic is also faster.

It also reduces the weight of arrows and bolts to 0. [download.fliggerty.com] Morrowind guards are all too ready to help you fight a marauding rat or slaughterfish, but will they bother to lift a finger if you're being harried by a Dark Brotherhood assasin or the bartender you just taunted to the point of attack? Forget it sunshine, we have guarding to do! This mod solves that.

Guards will now rush to your aid when you're in a tight spot, just as long as it wasn't you who started the fight. [www.wolflore.net] Your character will slowly regenerate magicka over time. Regeneration speed is tied to your Willpower stat. Note that a (free) login is required to download from this site.

[mw.modhistory.com] Some consider the 'Creeper' merchant almost a developer-provided cheat. This mod is not for those people. The fact is however, that you will collect a large amount of fabulously expensive loot through the course of the game; with some items worth far, far more than any merchant, even the cashed-up Creeper and elusive Mudcrab Merchant can deliver. It is possible with a complex series of negotiations to liquidate this expensive gear, but the process is slow, especially given the Creeper's paltry daily allowance. This mod increases his daily cash by a factor of ten. If you've already started cashing out those expensive baubles with him, this mod simply speeds up that inevitable process and gets you back to the fun part of the game sooner. [www.nexusmods.com] I love this mod.

It does exactly what it says. In the vanilla game you're literally assaulted with greetings from every NPC you come within five paces of; it's annoying to the point of distraction. This mod alters things such that NPCs will only bother to talk to you when you look directly at them!

Even then, the chances that they will speak are dependent on their disposition toward you. If they totally love you or detest you, you're pretty much guaranteed a response. If they're in the middle and totally indifferent however, you'll be lucky to hear from them at all. [mw.modhistory.com] This is a simple character generation mod which offers three starting modes for the game: Tutorials - the default game start and 'CharGen' process, complete with tutorials; Skip Tutorials, an accelerated start where all spoken dialogue still occurs while you're filling out the character sheet, and no tutorials are offered; and finally Quick Start, where you're sent straight to the character sheet and able to leave the Census & Excise office immediately when you're done, handily with Fargoth's ring and 300 drakes already in your pocket. [www.nexusmods.com] The vanilla Speechcraft skill can be frustrating to level up because the results are so variable. With a low-level character, you might as well reload a saved game if the NPCs disposition dips below 50%.

This mod seeks to rebalance the Speechcraft formula such that you have a higher chance of success, but with a smaller effect on the NPC's disposition. These mods fix errors, omissions and outright bugs in the vanilla game. [download.fliggerty.com] Morrowind lore tells us that Dagoth Ur is weakened by the death of an Ash Vampire, but this doesn't actually happen in the game. This mod sets things right - Ur is weakened with every Ash Vampire killed. [www.nexusmods.com] This small mod updates the Nix-Hound mesh so that the creature's mandibles are coloured purple, just as they're described in lore.

The mod doesn't replace any textures, so you're free to apply whatever Nix-Hound texture replacer you like, while still enjoying those lore-friendly pointy purple protrusions. [www.nexusmods.com] During the main quest in the Bloodmoon expansion, you're frequently told that the the walls of the destroyed Fort Frostmoth will be repaired, but they never actually change. This mod actually rebuilds the fort as the quest proceeds, bringing back the realism. [mw.modhistory.com] The game lore states that a pass must be presented to the Gnisis Eggmine guard before entry will be granted, but in practice the pass isn't required. This fix makes it necessary.

I chose the difficult version because of reasons. [mw.modhistory.com] Lore says that non-Telvanni characters must purchase Hospitality Papers before they can receive any services in Sadrith Mora, but the game doesn't enforce it. This mod fixes that. [download.fliggerty.com] This fix solves a problem with the Hunger creature animation that can cause it to emit a horrible repeating noise when knocked out. [mw.modhistory.com] With the Bloodmoon expansion installed (it's part of the Steam GOTY edition), every NPC's latest rumors dialogue will be about Solstheim until finally go there. This mod fixes it so only a select few NPCs know or talk about it, making it more like a regular quest.

[mw.modhistory.com] Lore states that the Moon-and-Star ring grants 'great powers of persuasion', when in actual fact it only buffs Speechcraft and Personality by five points each. This tweak increases those buffs to 15 points each, making the ring worth wearing as you're playing politics during the main quest. A secret door can be revealed in Shishi by activating a switch to lower a platform.

Unfortunately, the platform will reset to its original position in time, but you can only activate the switch once, meaning you can never return to the secret area. This mod fixes it so you can activate the switch as often as you like to raise and lower the platform, and so the hidden area is always accessible. [www.nexusmods.com] When asking for a blessing at a shrine with a guild rank over 2, you're asked to pay 0 gold, which is a bit pointless.

This mod removes that step and the blessing is automatically granted. [mw.modhistory.com] The Sleepers remain hostile and evasive throughout the game, when they should only act differently when 'asleep', and under Dagoth Ur's control. This mod has them behave as normal NPCs outside of the main quest and also when they're 'awake'.

[www.nexusmods.com] The Tribunal expansion (included in the Steam GOTY edition) makes itself known very early on with the player character being attacked as they sleep by high-level assassins. This mod delays the attacks until after the main quest, as it was likely to have been intended.

Various tools for managing your Morrowind installation, as well as utilities for patching core bugs and enhancing game graphics. [www.nexusmods.com] MGE XE extends the graphic capabilities of the Morrowind engine, adding such features as an extended draw distance, scenery shadows, shader support (water effects, DOF, sunshafts for example), UI scaling and more. The MGSO package offers a prior version of MGE XE as the premium graphics extender choice, however the package has been updated since, with 0.9.10 the current version at the time of wrting.

Instaling MGE XE without the MGSO wizard to hold your hand can be a little confusing, but you're a clever person, you'll work it out. It's a great way to learn more about how Morrowind works under the hood.

Take care to make a backup of your entire installation before the install, read the documentation thoroughly and don't be afraid to hit the forums for help. [www.nexusmods.com] The Morrowind Code Path is a patch that directly modifies your Morrowind.exe game program, and removes a bunch of bugs. MCP is installed in the MGSO package, but like MGE, MCP has been updated since the MGSO release, with MCP 2.1 the current version at time of writing. This version delivers a number of crash fixes, and it's worth it for those alone.

[www.nexusmods.com] mlox is a tool for managing the load order of your mods. In Morrowind when two mods alter the same thing, it's the mod that loads last that wins. Thus, load order is very important. Mlox is a simple tool that uses a set of rules to inspect your load order and propose any changes that are required.

You can apply the changes with a single click. Mlox is provided with MGSO, but again, the MGSO version is outdated. Download the updated version (0.60 is linked here) for an updated ruleset and a wider knowledge of recent mods and their dependencies. All this leads to a better load order. [download.fliggerty.com] Wrye Mash is the Morrowind modder / mod enthusiast's multitool.

It's a tool to manage mod files and load order, install and uninstall mods safely, manage and repair save files, repair missing references in mod files and much more. It has to be said that the Mash learning curve is quite steep, so it's not for everyone, but if you're considering getting heavily into Morrowind mods or modding, Mash is essential. Mods that are definitely worth your time, at least to trial and see if they're to your taste. I found these all to be of decent quality, but ultimately I've not kept them installed in my build. [btb2.free.fr] This is a custom edit of the excellent [mw.modhistory.com] by Xiran, a complete overhaul for Morrowind's music system. BTB's edit actually simplifies the complex and vastly configurable base mod, producing a hassle-free modification coupled with a great collection of ambient music that changes effortlessly to match each region and situation. The main link will actually take you to BTB's Morrowind Mod List, a great list of mods and a thoroughly amusing read.

[www.nexusmods.com] Replaces interior and exterior Daedric Ruins textures with deliciously crunchy high resolution bump mapped versions. I removed this because I had some crashing problems after installation, but those actually seem to have been caused by Fliggerty's Keyring mod. I'll be revisiting this one soon!

[www.nexusmods.com] Epic Ald'ruhn expands the town of Ald'ruhn by adding additional buildings around the outskirts, giving the feel of a much larger city. In this way, all of the original lore and story remain intact. There's a separate Mountainous Red Mountain version available for users of that awesome mod, so grab the one you need and remember to regenerate Distant Land with MGE after installation.

[www.nexusmods.com] As with the other two 'epic' mods, Epic Sadrith Mora expands the town by adding more vanila buildings around the outskirts, promoting the feel of a larger and more bustling city. It adds no additional game content, so the vanilla quests and lore are left unmolested. Has some object placement issues when used on top of MGSO.

[webpages.charter.net] This mod aims to improve realism by adding weight to the gold you're carrying around. By the time I got around to instlaling this mod, I had over 300,000 septims in my pocket! By default, each coin is given a weight of 0.1, but this value is configurable via a console command. Be sure to drop all your gold before enabling or disabling the mod!

[download.fliggerty.com] Before long, your inventory will become overrun with the various keys you find around the place. Like most, I wanted to keep these keys just in case they were (and some are!) needed to open locked doors and chests elsewhere. The problem is managing them all, and that's where this mod comes the the rescue - the keyring acts as a carryable, equippable container that can store all your keys and only take up one inventory slot. It can even automatically search your inventory from time to time and gobble up any loose keys it finds.

I ran into some crashing problems with my game to I traced back to this mod. Use with caution. [www.nexusmods.com] This is a comprehensive replacement of the ground textures throughout the game, providing 88 high resolution textures for all regions.

A separate set of replacement textures is provided for the Bloodmoon expansion. [www.nexusmods.com] The mod replaces the default exterior textures of he Ministry of Truth with compelling bump mapped alternatives, lifting the overall look of the moon considerably. Also includes a optional compatibility patch to support the Prison Moon Enhanced II mod (pictured, see below).

[www.nexusmods.com] A set of seven dramatic, high resolution starry night sky replacements, ranging from near-terrestrial to outright ridiculous. An optional download is available providing variations of each texture at different brightness levels; I found I needed to use the 33% versions in my MGSO build or the skies were just too dang bright. [download.fliggerty.com] A mod that seeks to spice up the Ministry of Truth (aka the Prison Moon) above Vivec by adding a number of orbiting satellites.

Pointless, certainly, but they do look pretty cool! Note that there is a bump-mapped texture update available that supports this mod - see Ministry of Truth Bump Mapped, above. [www.nexusmods.com] This mod replaces the low-res, 4:3 loading screens with a range of hi-res, widescreen-friendly scenes depicting various denizens of Morrowind. Great list, thank you! There are still things in this game I didn't realize needed fixing. On a side note, I do have some concerns with the 'Shishi Door Fix' site.

I went there, clicked download on that mod, and Windows Defender popped up saying I just downloaded two Trojan viruses with it. I don't know if it was just a one-time fluke or something, but there is a much safer alternative. 'Unofficial Morrowind Patch Project Bug Fixes' by EnderAndrew at NexusMods includes an update to the 'Shishi_door' script that fixes the problem. I didn't like some of the other changes in the plug-in so I just copy-pasted the script into it's own plug-in and it works fine. Thanks and sorry for the late response.

As you say, cliffracers are incredibly annoying in the vanilla game. Instead of removing them altogether, I went with Animal Realism, which reworks the the likelihood of aggression for all animals - small animals like rats, kwama and yes, even cliff racers are far less to prone to attack in the first place, while the larger ones are actually more aggressive!
